Business development manager

Build relationships. Drive growth. Shape the future of solar energy.
Midsummer is a Swedish solar technology company founded in 2004, specializing in lightweight solar panels developed in Sweden and manufactured in Europe. Our technology enables solar installations on commercial and industrial rooftops where limited load-bearing capacity restricts conventional solutions.
We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to establish and expand Midsummer’s presence in Poland.
In this role, you will be responsible for generating new business, managing key customer relationships and developing a network of local partners. You will lead the commercial sales process from prospecting to secured orders, combining hands-on sales execution with long-term market development. The position offers considerable autonomy, supported by experienced colleagues and specialist teams from our headquarter in Stockholm and other European countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales growth in Poland, targeting commercial and industrial properties, including warehouses, logistics facilities and factories.
- Generate new business through proactive prospecting, cold calling and direct customer engagement.
- Establish and manage relationships with property owners, senior decision-makers, EPC contractors and installation partners.
- Lead the sales process from opportunity qualification and commercial negotiations to secured panel orders.
- Position Midsummer’s premium solar solutions through a clear understanding of customer needs, technical requirements and commercial value.
- Identify and develop local partners capable of generating business independently.
- Coordinate with internal teams and maintain accurate pipeline management and reporting in CRM (Pipedrive).
The primary focus will be projects ranging from approximately 100 kW and upwards. Midsummer supplies the solar panels, while local EPC and installation partners deliver the complete installation. You will be responsible for driving and coordinating the commercial process.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B sales, business development or commercial account management, with a demonstrated track record of commercial success.
- Strong prospecting skills and the ability to independently generate and convert new business opportunities.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and negotiating with senior decision-makers.
- The ability to communicate technical and commercial value and successfully position premium solutions.
- Experience in strategic account management, partner development and structured sales pipeline management.
- Excellent communication, relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in Polish and English, residence in Poland and a valid driving licence.
Experience in solar energy, roofing, construction or related technical industries is highly valued. An established network within commercial real estate, EPC contracting or installation services is a strong advantage.
Personal Attributes
A natural go-getter with a passion for creating new business and turning opportunities into results. Building strong relationships, opening doors and finding ways to make things happen comes naturally. With a proactive mindset, strong commercial drive and a willingness to go the extra mile, you thrive on taking initiative and winning new business. Success comes from persistence, confidence and a genuine passion for sales, combined with the ability to work independently and make things happen.
What We Offer
- A commercially influential role in developing Midsummer’s presence in Poland.
- Significant autonomy and responsibility within clear commercial guidelines.
- The opportunity to represent differentiated Swedish solar technology.
- Report directly to Global Head of Sales.
- An international working environment with opportunities for professional development.
- Local employment in Poland, with flexibility to work remotely or from a shared office.
- A fixed salary, initially without variable compensation.
- Potential progression to Country Manager as the business expands, including recruitment and team leadership while remaining actively involved in sales.
The position involves approximately 20–30% travel within Poland and three to four trips elsewhere in Europe annually.
At Midsummer, you will have the opportunity to play a central role in establishing our position in the Polish market. With substantial ownership, access to international expertise and a differentiated product offering, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to the company’s continued expansion.
